Dear St. Bernard Family Member,
You may have heard by now the awful news that we have lost a wonderful member of our Church family. Troy Neal passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. Our hearts go out to his wife Renae and their three children, Dante, Trenton, and Izabella. The funeral for Troy will be at St. Bernard Church on Monday, July 13th at 10:00AM. His visitation will be at Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown from 2 – 6 PM Sunday, July 12th.
Troy and Renae have been very involved in many ministries here at St. Bernard: Koininia Retreats, RCIA, Religious Education programs, many of the Worship ministries, PTO and various school volunteer services, Booster events, Picnics, Fish Fries and many more. They live their faith by service to our community in lots of ways.
The Neal family depended on Troy’s income as a truck driver and Renae’s disability pay to send their children to Catholic schools, plus pay all of the other bills that a household has to pay in these days and times. Troy’s death means that there are all of those bills to be paid, and very little income to pay them all. Some parishioners have stepped up to pay Izabella’s school tuition for the 2020-2021 school year. Yet, Trenton is a senior at DeSales High School, and Renae is going to need a lot of help from us to help him finish his senior year. Along with that there is an enormous number of medical bills, and very regretfully funeral costs, that Renae will have to find a way to pay.
I am asking you as a Church family member to help the Neal family with these expenses. We will have special baskets in the gym, in Church, at the drive through line for Communion on Sundays, and we’ll have a bucket or basket at our upcoming Fish Fries for you to deposit your checks or cash. You can also send your donations by mail or online via WeShare. Please make your checks out to St. Bernard Church for The Neal Family Fund. Our parish will then send a check to DeSales High School for Trenton’s tuition, and then to Renee for the other expenses.
Please be as generous as possible. Their family is going to need a lot of help. Let’s be the caring Church family that the Neal’s need us to be.
Thank you!

👣HIGH SCHOOL AND FRESHMAN BLESSING AND SEND OFF - Moving from grade school to high school, or from high school to college is a HUGE step. We want you, who are taking this step, to know that your Church and our God is with you as you mature in your life's journey.
On Sunday, August 2nd, at the 11 AM Mass we will recognize and bless those who are about to begin their freshman year in College or High School.
Please let Fr. Chuck know if you would like to volunteer for Lector, Hospitality Minister, or Communion Minister.
Also- we will have mass on the football field, weather permitting. Bring a chair and sunscreen! ☀️
Otherwise, we will have mass in the gym.
